If you grew up with Darling, you know the names: Abuja for braids and cornrows, Selfie for a quick curly crochet, Passion Twist for twists that last. Darling is a pan-African hair company with operations in 14 African countries, in partnership with Godrej Consumer Products since 2011.

Avira brings that range to Denmark, Sweden and Germany. Everything we sell is Darling hair, shipped from Denmark.

More than 30 Darling products, in four groups:

Darling hair is synthetic: lightweight, easy to style, and many of the braids hold hot-water curls and seal their ends when dipped in hot water. Each product page lists the length, texture, weight and how many packs you need for a full head.

Delivery, prices and returns

  • Denmark: 2–5 business days with GLS. Orders placed before 14:00 CET on a business day usually leave the same day.
  • Sweden and Germany: 5–10 business days.
  • Free shipping on orders over 500 DKK.
  • Prices in your currency: the shop shows prices in DKK, SEK or EUR depending on where you are. You can switch with the flag at the top of the page.
  • Multi-pack prices: almost every product gets cheaper per pack when you buy several, and different colours of the same product count together.
  • 14-day returns on unused, unopened products. Read the details.

Finding your colour

Darling numbers its colours, and the codes are the same ones you know from home: 1 is jet black, 27 honey blonde, 30 a light auburn, 350 copper ginger. A mix is written from root to tip, so 1/27 goes from black at the root to honey blonde at the tip. On every product page the colours are listed by code, with a swatch showing the shade.

How much to order

Most full-head braid styles take 2–5 packs, crochet styles 1–3, and a weave just one. Our guide How Many Packs of Braiding Hair Do You Need? lists the count for every product.

How Many Packs of Braiding Hair Do You Need?

The short answer: for a full head, most Darling braiding hair takes 2 to 5 packs, crochet hair 1 to 3, and a weave or ponytail usually just one. The exact number depends on the product, how long you want your braids and how big your parts are.

Weaves and ponytails

One pack covers a full head with every weave we stock: Afro Baby, Body Wave, Flat Iron, Natural Brazilian VIP, Sassy Wave and the Remy Weave in short, medium and long.

The Wrap Around Ponytail is one pack. Ponytail Star and the Short Ponytail take one or two, depending on how full you want the look.

Why the number changes

The counts above are for an average full head. Three things move them up or down:

  • Part size. Small parts mean more braids, and more braids use more hair. Jumbo braids need fewer packs than small knotless braids with the same hair.
  • Length. Braiding shorter than the hair’s full length lets you split each piece, so you can get by with fewer packs.
  • Fullness. Thicker braids use more hair per braid.

A real example: for a full head of flip-over braids with Diani Braid, a salon working with Darling Kenya used 1.5 packs, right inside the 1–2 above.

Before you order

  • Between two numbers? Order the higher one. Running out halfway through an install is worse than keeping a spare pack for touch-ups.
  • Mixing colours costs nothing extra. Almost every product has a multi-pack price, and different colours of the same product count together towards it. The product page shows how many packs you need for the lower price.
  • Reading colour codes. Darling numbers its colours, and a mix is written from root to tip: 1 is jet black, 27 honey blonde and 350 copper ginger, so 1/27 runs from black at the root to honey blonde at the tip.
